The international congress “Africa Ñ” closes with a proposal to strengthen the presence of Spanish on that continent.
The International Congress “Africa Ñ”, sponsored by the Women for Africa Foundation and coordinated by our UNESCO Chair of Research in Communication and Africa (AFRICOM), has closed its sessions with a proposal to enhance the place of Spanish in the countries in that environment.

With the presence of the President of the Women for Africa Foundation, Mrs. Ms Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega and Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire, Sr. Mr. Daniel Kablan Duncannuestra, as well as our director of the UNESCO Chair of Research in Communication and Africa (AFRICOM), Mrs. Carmen Caffarel Serra, and Dr.. Ms. Bakayoko-Ly, president of the Félix Houphouet Boigny University of the Ivory Coast, where the meeting was held, A preliminary action plan has been approved that includes, among other points,: promote inter-university cooperation with a view to facilitating the linguistic immersion of groups of African Spanish students, the creation of a Network of African Hispanists and the creation of the “Africa con Ñ” Award in two categories - short story and research work -, each endowed with 3.000 euros, with the aim of promoting the creation in Spanish of African authors.
